Next Rockford, a group of Gen X and Gen Y professionals whose mission is to advocate for improvements in education, the business environment and urban development within and around Rockford, Ill., has elected two new members to its governing Strategy Team and appointed new officers.

Next Rockford, a group of Gen X and Gen Y professionals whose mission is to advocate for improvements in education, the business environment and urban development within and around Rockford, Ill., has elected two new members to its governing Strategy Team and appointed new officers.

The new Strategy Team members are:

  • Doug Burton, Interactive Developer and Marketing Specialist, KMK Media Group – Burton provides marketing solutions for KMK Media clients based on a holistic business approach and has more than 15 years of experience in web development and marketing. In addition to his role as a Strategy Team member, Burton also co-chairs the Next Rockford Education Committee. He is active with the American Advertising Federation, currently serving as President of the local chapter, and is also a member of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce’s Education Council. He earned his bachelor’s and master of business administration degrees from Rockford College.
  • Cindy Harris, Communications Manager, KMK Media Group – Harris manages integrated marketing campaigns at KMK Media Group and has more than 15 years of experience in the marketing, advertising and public relations fields. In addition to her role on Strategy Team, Harris also chairs the Next Rockford Communications Committee. She serves on the board of directors for Visiting Nurses Association, Discovery Center Museum and Without Shoes Modern Dance Co. She earned her bachelor of arts in English and Spanish from Rockford College.

Next Rockford also elected new officers for one-year terms:

  • Vice Facilitator – John Groh, President & CEO, Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau
  • Secretary – Dana Kiley, Vice President, Coyle-Varland Insurance Agency, Inc.

Continuing in their leadership roles are:

  • Facilitator – Kris Kieper, CEO, YWCA of Rockford
  • Treasurer – Brent Scott, Vice President of Commercial Banking, JPMorgan Chase Bank
